Kayaking classes offered for students, community members

Every Tuesday from 8-10 p.m., the pool in the Aquatic Center is open to any and all kayaks. The two-hour class allows people to come in to practice or learn to roll their kayaks.

The class isn’t open to just students; people from the community can also jump in. It is free for students and nonstudents pay $3.

As long as you bring your own skirt and paddle, you are ready to hop into the pool. If you need to borrow a kayak, there are some available there.

“I’m just really happy to get in a boat and not be really cold,” said George Kersey, a current student at Western, about his experience coming to Kayak Night.

Don’t feel like flipping a kayak? Or want to relax for a little after you learn a new skill? The hot tub and diving board are open during these hours, too.

If you are interested in attending, go to the Aquatic Center with all your gear and get ready to roll.

The president of the Whitewater Club is Paul Raymond. If you have any questions you can email him at paul.raymond@western.edu.
