Western’s Earth Week began on Monday, April 22.
To celebrate, LEAD Sustainability, Sustainability Coalition and the Organics Guild organized events throughout the week to promote awareness of sustainability on campus and abroad. Every day, the groups will host an event related to sustainability action, awareness of environmental issues, and celebration of student initiatives and Earth Day.
The week culminates with an Earth Day Barbecue on Friday, April 26, with sponsors from Jacksons Honest, The Wet Grocer and Luna Bakery. The barbecue will be a Zero Waste event, and everyone attending is encouraged to bring their own plate and silverware.
At the barbecue, LEAD Sustainability will reveal the new and improved Bike Library, with new townie bikes available for check-out at the Savage Library. These bikes were made possible with the help of Rock and Roll Sports, Leslie J. Savage Library Staff and the Sustainability Fund Committee.
