In the meditation club we practice silent sitting meditation and walking meditation. Meditations last anywhere from 15 to about 30 minutes depending on the experience level of those that come on any given day. In meditation we practice mindfulness by just noticing how our minds wander and coming back to this moment. To quote Zen teacher Steve Hagen, “In meditation, we are aware of the frequent wandering of our mind and bring it back, over and over, to the movement of the breath, to the posture of the body, and to itself. We repeatedly return to body, mind, and breath.” We are not affiliated with any particular tradition, although we do study some Buddhism and other traditions. We welcome levels of all experience, whether none or many years, to join us. I hope we can build a welcoming community where we care about each other’s well-being.
