BLISTER Speaker Series welcomes executive director of Honnold Foundation to campus

In its second event of the year, Western’s BLISTER Speaker Series will host Honnold Foundation Executive Director Dory Trimble on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. in the UC Theater.

The foundation was created by renowned climber and focus of the Oscar winning documentary “Free Solo” Alex Honnold. It aims to reduce environmental impact and address global inequity by supporting solar energy initiatives across the globe and Trimble has spent the last two years in the executive director role.

Under her leadership, initiatives to promote solar power in underserved communities have grown to include the African countries of Malawi, Ethiopia and Zambia. The foundation also works with groups in California and within the Navajo Nation.

The BLISTER Speaker Series brings outdoor industry professionals to campus, including preeminent athletes, authors, activists, story tellers and product designers. This unique program gives Western students direct access to learn from influencers shaping the future of the industry.
