· Charly Remy: I am the electronic resources librarian and I have been here a month. I was wondering if SGA was interested in partnering with us. There could possibly be many forms of advisory committees. We are also looking at our funding. We have in the past had funding for rental books that are popular fiction. We were wondering if we should continue that program, and if you wanted to fund that. Also, maybe a DVD collection for students. We are open to options. We want the library to be really inviting for studying and recreation. Any questions?
· Devon: Are you looking for a senator to represent you?
· Charly: I don’t know the structure of SGA, so I’m not sure. Maybe a committee that gets input from students. I’m not sure, but willing to explore new ideas. Our acquisitions budget has been flat for a while. We don’t know what our funding will be like. I want a relationship between us and SGA. I think it’s important to reach out to as many units on campus.
· Jesse: What type of funding are you looking for?
· Charly: It depends on what you want us to get for the library. DVDs? Print? Database? Its up to you. I’m open to anything
· D’Andre: Do you want our help to get student’s ideas?
· Charly: Yes. I want it to be a regular communication between us all. An open channel for students to discuss and give ideas.
· Grace: Does the library faculty meet regularly?
· Charly: We meet 2 times a month.
· Grace: Would it work if we sent a senator to those meetings?
· Charly: Yes that’s a possibility. I want to build a relationship between the two., and maybe down the road ask for funding.
· Chris: How popular are the fiction books?
· Charly: It’s hard to say if it’s more students or community members. Since we are a state institution, we have to allow anyone in the community access. We want to make sure our money is used in the best way. Whatever is best for the students.
· Austin: What are diversion materials?
· Charly: Popular fiction, feature films, things not related to school materials. Fun stuff.
· Austin: Maybe you guys could have a suggestion box at the library as well.
· Devon: You should have a senator go to the meetings like Grace said.
· Charly: I don’t want to go up to you without having any kind of communication with SGA. I want you to know we are invested in student’s opinions. I feel uncomfortable asking for money and not having communication with you all. That’s why I am here.
· Devon: That’s why having a senator at your meetings would be good. We can bring up the stuff discussed in the library meetings at our SGA meetings.
· Charly: Would this be an existing senator?
· Devon: Yes.
· Noah: Can it be anyone? Not just a senator?
· Devon: Yes.
· Jesse: Charly, we will talk about getting a representative for you to come to the library meetings.
· Charly: Thank you!
V. Special Topics
· Induction of Running club- Dr. Vandenbusche: I think it would be great to have a running club. We have many athletes that enjoy running but are not on the WSC collegiate teams. I have a great relationship with Coach Jen Michel so this is not stepping on anyone’s toes. The running club would also be a great recruiting device for the track and cross country teams. We have already had meetings. I am asking for the approval to make the running club official.
· Travis: will you compete?
· Vandenbusche: Yes we want to do nationals. You have to be a full time student, and have to compete in a regional meet to be in nationals.
· Jesse: Are you asking for funding?
· Vandenbusche: No.
· Austin: How many members do you have so far?
· Vandenbusche: We have about 15 or 16.

VI. Advisor Report
· On Tuesday 1 -1:45 in the North Conference room of the College Center is the “Effective Conversations” program. Senators put that on your boards. Requests for convocation funding are due October 1 by 5:00 pm.
VII. Committee Reports
· Parade: Everything is going well. Meeting at 1:00 pm tomorrow. Jamie, let’s talk after the meeting.
· Lighting of the W: We have our last meeting tomorrow at 1:30. I called the fire department and the police department and everything’s good.
· Bowl decorations: I attended meeting with Meagann Powell, and she approved everything. Lauren and Grace can you still meet at 7:15 Saturday morning? We will meet outside the Program Council room at 7:15 Saturday morning to fill balloons, and the thunder sticks have arrived.
· Alumni: Be here at 6:45 pm in College Center Friday night. Shelley: If you want to wear capes to greet the alumni, DO!
· Publicity: All signs are up. Keep talking to your classes and friends about upcoming events.
· Bonfire: Everything is good to go.
· Float: I sent out an email today after meeting, we need to make signs that will go on the side of the fire truck. Please come! We also need signs for Jay Helman and Sandy to hold. It will be a BLAST!
· Royalty: All set. Everyone can make it to the game, but not really anyone for the parade.
· Election committee: Lauren: I need to talk to Stephanie and Travis after this meeting about running interviews for treasurer.
VIII. Advisory Reports
· CCE: Worde Horde is tomorrow night at 7:00 pm at Mochas. Monday night at 7:30 in Quiggley for $7, Buddy Wakefield will be performing.
· Athletic Ambassador: SAC meeting last night and we are getting stuff ready for our float. Volleyball has a game at 7:00 pm Friday night and Saturday night at 7:30. The football game is at 1:00 on Saturday.
· ICC: We had a meeting today for paintball. We awarded them some equipment that they needed. They have a bunch of events coming soon. A lot of clubs and organizations have been contacting me with announcements for the parade. These are listed below……
· Mountaineer Rescue
· Sociology Club is supporting EVERYDAY heroes! We are a group on campus that strives to understand patterns of all different groups of people for the benefit of human kind.
· The Student Veterans Organization is a group of students and veterans who wish to promote awareness for our military and troops overseas. The Student Veterans Organization is open to all students, veterans and members of the community.
· SAAC stands for Student Athlete Advisory Council. We promote all athletic events with incorporating fun activities for the fans. Come to the Volleyball game at 7pm and the Football 1pm today!
· Chemistry Club is a team of super scientists. They climb mountains, solve magical mysteries, and share science with the whole community.
· Political Club We are a club dedicated to providing quality events and programming reflecting the current political debates in the United States and the world. We hold election debates, film screenings, and hold student discussions on pertinent topics.
· Program Council- We are dedicated to enhancing the lives of WSC students through various forms of entertainment. To enrich lives and create memories is our goal. If it wasn't fun we didn't do it
· KWSB "KWSB 91.1 FM has been rocking the Gunnison Valley since 1968... We’re here; we usually have free gear, tune in!"
· Here comes the Western State Men's Lacrosse Team! This will be their 15th Season as they compete in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference and will play later this afternoon around 1 o'clock against their alumni at the field in front of Borrick! So come out and see some hard hitting Lacrosse Action! Go Mountaineers!
· Freeride Ski Team Last year was the freeride's first year as a club and had a great season competing in the Subaru Freeski World Tour and other competition around Colorado. They all are very excited for the snow to fall and rip up the slopes for another year.
· The Western Alpine Racing team will enter its third year of competition on the USCSA collegiate racing circuit. With an impressive season the past two year the team looks forward to making another appearance at nationals.
· Western State College Nordic Ski Team is getting ready to begin their third year as a club team. They have done well in the previous years and are excited for another great season of racing
· Rodeo Club "We put the western in Western State."
· Anthropology Club
· Student Veterans Organization
· CMENC stands for Colorado Music Educators National Conference. We are a service based group and our main goal is to educate people about music weather that is members of the community, students on campus, or students in a k-12 setting. Our organization hosts the Honor Band and Choir Festivals for high-school students in February and March.
· Mountaineer Biology Club is a learning tool for many aspiring biologists. They work on service projects, attend biology-related workshops, meet professionals, and attend conferences.
· The San Luis UniServ Unit is affiliated with the Colorado Education Association and National Education Association. We are the professional association for public school employees and have 740 members in our UniServ Unit, 40,000 members in the state, and 3.2 million nationally
· Cheerleading
· Active Minds is a student-run mental health awareness, education, and advocacy organization on the college campus. The group is designed to utilize peer outreach to increase student’s awareness of mental health and symptoms of mental illness, provide information on available resources, and encourage students to seek help as soon as help is needed and to serve as a liaison between students and the mental health community. Psychology club/Psi Chi
· Men’s Hockey Team-Here is the Western State hockey team, they compete in the American Collegiate Hockey Association, and they would like to say a big thank you to the town of Gunnison for being so supportive. And would also like to extend an invitation to the town to come and see some good college hockey.
· Peace Out is the newly established community service club on campus. We seek to provide support and opportunity for students who wish to get involved in their local and global community through service projects and events.
· Women's Rugby club competes with other colleges around the state and would like to invite anyone to come and cheer us on at our home games. Also, we would like to thank everyone for coming out and supporting Western State College.
· Intramurals: None.
· Program Council: Tomorrow at 6:00 pm in the Ballroom is the comedian and the local band concert right after.
· Student Affairs: Shots are available at the Public Health Center for $14. I met with Teddy Joyce and she told me that Admissions has new ways of reaching prospective students. I will be having more meetings with her. We are focusing more on retaining women here at WSC. October 4 there will be an upgraded banner on the WOL account. It will be more inviting and welcoming. There will be more information about it next week.
· WP: Next weekend’s trips are sold out, and we are giving out a free trip for the raffle on Friday. We have already given out one as well. We have a staff meeting tomorrow at 5:00 pm. We are getting a lot of students asking for sponsorship; it is cool to see more involvement.
· VP of External: Amigos hosted Movie and a blanket last night. We had about 75-100 people. D’Andre and I attended the good neighbor program.
· President: Last chance to turn in application for treasurer is this Friday at 4:00 pm. Friday October 8 is the next board of trustees meeting. If you see any students wearing a good amount red on Friday, give them a raffle ticket and tell them the prize will be given at the volleyball that night. October 4 politics club will be hosting a debate. Senators put that on your boards.
· Treasurer- We are looking for a new one. Updated budget: internal= $ 5428.29 for bill money and $7300 after approving the sustainability bill.
· VP of Internal: New senators, I have fun stuff for you. Please come pick up these folders after the meeting. Meetings are business casual- no jeans and no tennis shoes.
IX. Senator Reports
· Rachel: None
· Grace: I was excited to see capes on campus.
· Ciera: After last week’s meeting when we talked about the issue dealing with Extended Studies, I found out more information. Full time professors cannot teach extended studies anymore. It has always been a policy, but they are cracking down now. It will only be affecting 6-8 classes out of the 70. Why? They feel like these professors cannot fully focus on these classes with a full time schedule. Also, if you withdraw and need one more credit, they can’t report an extended studies credit to the state and it makes WSC look bad. Some people are doing petitions. There will be an article about it in Top of the World tomorrow.
· Noah: In the recreation department, Professor Zimmer offers great and low cost trips. My only concern is that a great professor with a lot to offer won’t be able to provide these classes.
· Ciera: They can still hire him, it just depends on the schedule. Each situation is different. During summer, Christmas and spring breaks this does not apply.
· Devon: The petition is trying to propose a bill so I will relay this information to them.
· Ciera: Please put these rumors to rest about this topic.
· Haleigh: Do we have all the new senator’s emails?
· Sarah: Yes.
· Haleigh: I will email you all your new board assignments and what needs to go on it.
· Devon: Will boards be doubled up?
· Haleigh: I don’t think so.
· Devon: It will cost money to move the board from Kelley second floor to first floor, but it is available.
· Devon: I have been talking about homecoming and I passed out the information sheets.I have been really trying to hype it up.

· D’Andre: I was in class with the people making the petition and I think they are worried and do not know the facts.

· We have $6006 excess in our budget 1) allocate to different clubs 2) put all in reserves 3) add excess to sga bill fund
· Jamie: This money is very valuable for clubs.
· Jesse: Remember, we can do half and half.
· Ciera: How likely is it that we won’t get money next year?
· Lauren: It depends on how things go at the end of the year. Just the senators vote on this issue.

· Sarah: Last year we did dip into our reserve some. Also if we only give half to clubs, it’s not that much money for each club.
· Jamie: I have bill money too, but if they want more they come to SGA
· 5 in favor and 0 opposed to 100% of the money goes to SGA bill funds

· Jesse: I got an email about students concerned about not enough bike racks on campus. We need to make a thank you for Sara Phillips for putting elections online. Think of ideas for that. We also need to thank the bookstore for giving us stuff.
· Lauren: The bookstore wants us to promote them and not other companies such as Amazon.
· Shelley: There will be fireworks Friday night for the lighting of the W and the bonfire. We need to email the new contact list.
· Lauren: Pass out raffle tickets Friday and go make signs now.
