Basic Information About Service Learning & Civic Engagement

  • Campus Compact Website. The Campus Compact is a national coalition of some 750 college and university presidents who are committed to the civic purposes of higher education.

  • Corporation for National Service. This is the home site for the federal organization that channels funds to the states for service learning and civic engagement by students, via Americorps, Senior Corps and other programs. From the home page one can go to pages that describe what is happening in one's own state.

  • National Service Learning Clearinghouse. This site is funded by the Department of Service Learning of the Corporation for National Service.

Integrating Service Learning into Courses & Syllabi

  • Campus Compact Syllabi Website.This website, maintained by the national Campus Compact, has an introduction to service learning course structuring, and a large base of sample syllabi organized byEffectiven disciplines.
