WSCU Welcomes New Trustee Appointments

Governor Hickenlooper appointed new trustee Nancy Ellen Chisholm of Lakewood and reappointed long-time trustee Meyer M. Saltzman of Denver. Both will serve as Republicans. The appointments must be confirmed by the Colorado Senate, are effective Dec. 18, 2012 and expire Dec. 31, 2016.

“The Board of Trustees is thrilled with the Governor’s decision to re-appoint Trustee Saltzman and to appoint Ms. Nancy Chisholm to the board, for consideration by the state legislature,” says Board of Trustees Chair Todd Wheeler. “Trustee Saltzman has extensive experience in higher education governance and specific skills in financial oversight.  Ms. Chisholm brings considerable experience in managing diverse organizations with complex human resources and a competitive branding and marketing environment.  Those skills, and the fact that Nancy is also an alum, will serve Western State Colorado University well as we evolve the institution’s leadership, organization, key value propositions and community message over the next several years.”

Meyer Saltzman was first appointed to the WSCU Board of Trustees in 2009. “Western is part of my family and the dreams and aspirations I have for my children and grandson are the same that I have for the students at Western,” Saltzman says.  “With the incredible education that Western offers I strongly believe students will accomplish whatever their dreams may be and I am extremely proud to have played a part in WSCU’s success.” Mr. Saltzman is a certified public accountant and partner with Saltzman Hamma Nelson Massaro LLP, an accounting and consulting firm in Denver, which he founded in 1975 and merged with a national firm in 1997.

WSCU graduate Nancy Chisholm replaces outgoing Trustee Stephanie Foote. Chisholm, who graduated from Western in 1990 with a degree in Business Administration, has more than 20 years of experience in general management, operations, sales and human resources. She’s currently Vice President & General Manager of Tyco Retail Solutions, leading a $1 billion global business which provides solutions that protect profits, improve efficiency and prevent theft for 80% of the world’s top 200 retailers. "As a graduate of Western, I feel incredibly passionate about the university and its success," says Nancy Chisholm. "I'm excited to have been granted this opportunity to use my private sector management and leadership experience to help the university pursue its goals."

“We are truly fortunate to have such dedicated Trustees,” says WSCU President Jay Helman. “It’s a big job, and every Trustee works tirelessly to ensure a successful future for the University.” Helman also thanks outgoing Trustee Stephanie Foote, who served for nearly 10 years. “Stephanie’s passion for higher education and experience as a former Denver City Council member and deputy mayor were a great asset for the WSCU Board of Trustees and we thank her for her service.”
