Sophomore quarterback Tyler Daniels earned ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honors.

Daniels earned college division second-team honors for District 7, which includes the states of Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, North Dakota and South Dakota and the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan. The college division includes all schools at the Division II, Division III, NAIA and junior college levels.

Daniels carries a 3.76 grade-point average in business administration and history. He was one of 11 RMAC student-athletes named to the two all-district teams.

Daniels was a first-team All-Academic RMAC selection earlier this season and was named RMAC/Rawlings Offensive Player of the Week and D2Football.com National Co-Offensive Player of the Week after the Sept. 26 game at Western New Mexico. He earned a spot in Sports Illustrated’s “Faces in the Crowd” segment in the Oct. 19 issue.

Western State closes out the 2009 season this Saturday at home against Chadron State. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Mountaineer Bowl.
