WSC Celebration of Scholarship and Creative Work, Nov. 29 – Dec. 2

Nov. 28, 2011 -- Western State College of Colorado (WSC) students will showcase their research and creative projects at the Celebration of Scholarship Undergraduate Research Symposium this week.

The event -- which includes oral and poster presentations, music recitals and art exhibits -- highlights multidisciplinary projects that cover an array of topics ranging from scientific experiments to analyses of local issues, literature and historic events. Many students took advantage of the college’s surrounding “natural laboratory” to conduct research on the Gunnison region’s water, land and natural history.

Oral presentations will be conducted by 11 students at 12:15 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 29 in the College Center Ballroom.

More than 150 students will display their research during a poster presentation from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1 in the College Center Ballroom.

Music student recitals will be held at 12:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 29 in the Quigley Recital Hall. The WSC Flute Choir also will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 1 in the Quigley Recital Hall.

Student creative works are on display at the bachelor of fine arts exhibit through Nov. 30 in the Quigley Gallery. The bachelor of arts gala starts on Friday, Dec. 2.
