Poet David Whyte to Speak at WSC, Nov. 11
Oct. 20, 2010 -- Western State College of Colorado presents “An Evening with David Whyte,” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11 at the Prosser Theater in the College Center. This event is free and open to the public.
Whyte, an internationally acclaimed poet and lecturer, will present “The Inner Necessities of Leadership,” which explores the internal abilities that are the foundations for the actions we have to take in positions of responsibility. He also will discuss the way the cultivation of self-knowledge actually makes us fuller participants in a world from which we often try to hide.
In addition to authoring six books of poetry and three books of prose, Whyte tours the globe for speaking engagements and workshops. An Associate Fellow at Templeton College and Said Business School at the University of Oxford, he is one of the few poets to take his perspectives on creativity into the field of organizational development, where he works with many European, American and international companies.
This event is sponsored by the WSC Office of the President. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, contact Celeste Helminski at chelminski@western.edu or (970) 943-2114.
