Peak Productions Presents, "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," April 13 -15, 20 & 21

April 2, 2012 -- Western State College of Colorado's (WSC) Peak Productions and the Department of Music are proud to present "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," a delightful, entertaining adult musical about middle-school kids competing in the all important competitive ritual of knowing how to spell words like “crepuscule” and “vug.”

This is the first collaboration in almost 10 years between the college’s theatre and music programs and promises to be an entertaining, comical and sometimes thought-provoking evening of song, dance and spelling. The award-winning musical was a hit when it was first presented on Broadway in 2005.

Performances will run April 13, 14, 20 and 21 at 7:30 p.m., and April 15 at 2 p.m. in the Taylor Auditorium on the WSC campus.

The production is directed by communication and theatre professor Paul Edwards, with vocal and music direction by music professors Heather Roberson and John Wacker. Choreography is by WSC student Annie Pyron, scenic design is by communication and theatre professor Mike Brooks, lighting design by WSC senior Glenn DiNicola and costumes by Bev Jordi. Technical wizardry is produced by Bradley Branam. The cast includes Kali Sheldon, Patrick Ring, Emily Edwards, Dakota Brown, Alice Stern, Josh Lamb, Kira Redzinak, Carter Cain and Ryan Potter. There is also one very special guest appearance.

Tickets are $5 for WSC students with and $12 for faculty/staff/general admission and can be purchased in advance at the WSC Bookstore or at the door.
