Guest Violinist Max Rabinovitsj Joins WSC Music Faculty for Sept. 23 Concert
Sept. 20, 2010 -- Violinist Max Rabinovitsj will collaborate with pianist Martha Violett of the Western State College (WSC) music faculty in a convocation and masterclass on Tuesday, Sept.21 at 12:30 p.m. and a concert on Thursday, Sept. 23 at 7:30 p.m.
The public is invited to attend both events, which are in Quigley Recital Hall. The convocation and concert are co-sponsored by the WSC Council for Creative Expressionists, WSC Student Government Association, WSC Arts Enhancement and the WSC Music Department. Admission to both events is free.
Violinist Max Rabinovitsj has performed with some of today’s premiere ensembles and conductors, and was trained at the Royal Brussels Conservatory of Music and The Curtis Institute of Music. He has been the concertmaster of the Gulbenkian (Portugal) Orchestra, the St. Louis Symphony, the Nice (France) Orchestra, and the New Orleans Symphony, among others. Rabinovitsj has taught at the University of Texas, the University of Evora (Portugal), the Nice (France) Conservatory, and Washington University, where he founded the St. Louis String Quartet.
WSC violin students Jacob Lucero, Drew Murdza and Dan Tolen will perform atthe Sept. 21 convocation. The Sept. 23 concert will include the following works: "Schubert’s Sonatina, Op. 137, No. 1", "Beethoven’s Sonata, Op. 24" and "Brahms’ Sonata, Op.108".
