July 13, 2010 -- The US Green Building Council announced last week that Kelley Hall is officially a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) gold certified building, a first for both the Gunnison Valley and the Western State College of Colorado (WSC) campus.

April 20, 2010 -- Western State College of Colorado (WSC) has been honored by National Wildlife Federation (NWF) as a winner in the annual competition "Chill Out: Campus Solutions to Global Warming." This award program honors U.S. schools that are advancing creative solutions to global warming on their campuses. WSC Men's Cross Country Team Captures Ninth National Championship
Nov. 21, 2011 -- Ryan Haebe won in a time of 30:45.1 and Tyler Pennel finished three seconds behind him as Western State College of Colorado's (WSC) men's cross country won its eighth NCAA Division II national championship and ninth overall with a team score of 27 points at the Plantes Ferry Athletic Complex in Spokane, Wash. The Mountaineer women finished second with Lauren Kleppin in third overall.
