101st Army Band and WSC-Colorado Brass Band Concerts, June 24 & 25
June 22, 2010 -- The 101st Army Band and the WSC-Colorado Brass Band will perform free concerts this week at the Quigley Band Shell on the Western State College of Colorado (WSC) campus in Gunnison.
The 101st Army Band will perrform at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 24.
The WSC-Colorado Brass Band will present its 36th year of brass band concerts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 25. The WSC-Colorado Brass Band is conducted by Steve Asheim and includes performers from many brass bands in Colorado and other states. Guest conductors for the June 25 concert are John Wacker and Jim Yarrington. Soloists for the concert are Francis Laws on euphonium performing “Atlantic Zephyrs” and Ritchie Clendenin and Frank Hilligas performing “Cousins.” Other works performed by the Brass Band include “A Celtic Suite,” “Madriligum,” “Seventy-Six Trombones,” “Born on the Fourth of July,” “Theme from JFK,” “Amazing Grace” and “Nicaea.”
