Blood Drive on Campus November 14th!!

It’s getting to be that time again – time for the Western State Colorado University BLOOD DRIVE!!!

This round will take place Wednesday, November 14th; at the Aspinal Wilson Center.  Appointments occur every 10 minutes from 8:30 am to 3 pm. Please contact Suzy at scoykendall@western.edu or 943-2645 to make an appointment. Walk-ins are accepted but you may have to wait extra time if it gets busy.

As always, appointments occur every 10 minutes. It takes approximately 45 minutes to get through the entire process of check-in, paperwork, screening, donation and treat-eating after donation, so please plan accordingly. This is not a blood draw – that’s the health fair-- so you are encouraged to fully hydrate and eat before showing up for donation.

The number and types of things people get deferred for increase almost every year, so please be aware of the following:  there is a one-year deferment for any type of piercing or tattoo received outside of a doctor’s office, and there is a 3 year deferment (if not longer) for travel to malaria-common areas, including MOST TOURISTY PLACES IN MEXICO and SOUTH AMERICA. (These are the most common reasons we get deferred in Gunnison, so be aware!)

So, after taking all of that into account, I hope you will consider donating, or encourage your friends to do the same!

Thanks in advance,

Suzy Coykendall
