What does it take to build a stronger and more vibrant local food economy in the Gunnison Valley? Join us for the Gunnison Valley Farm-to-Table conference on April 8 and 9 at Western State Colorado University. April 8 will feature a showing of the film "Ingredients" at the Prosser Theater at 7 pm, featuring local popcorn and folllowed by a discussion. On April 9, the conference begins at 8 am in Taylor Auditorium with a keynote by Dr. Dawn Thilmany, a professor of Resource Economics at CSU, whose work focuses on local food systems in Colorado. A food network panel discussion takes place at 9 am, a growers and ranchers panel at 2, and a food industry and restauranteur panel will be held at 330, all in Taylor Auditorium. At 5 pm we will move to the University Center Ballroom for a round-table wrap-up discussion, followed by a local organic dinner at 7 and dessert and a guest speaker at 815. The conference is intendended to facilitate discussion, networking, and learning, and lead to direction for the next steps for the Gunnison Valley, and is open--and free of charge--to anyone with an interest in growing, selling, cooking, or eating locally--and in the process building a stronger economy in the valley.
