Description: An intensive, hands-on screenwriting bootcamp with an emphasis on work-shopping, where each student creates a treatment, character biographies, an outline, and then the first act of a proposed feature screenplay or TV pilot/spec.
Description: The Cochetopa Park trip with Bruce Bartleson explores some of the less well-known aspects of the Gunnison Country geology. Examine a little known precious metal mine, the Maple Leaf, and one of the largest uranium mines in the country for its time, the Los Ochos. The group explores some of the very ancient history of the Gunnison area. Transportation and sack lunch provided. Cost: $30.
Description: Enjoy an afternoon of creativity with artist Donna Rozman. Participants form simple clay birds and enclose a wildflower seed pod within. By placing the unfired clay birds in the garden or yard, the clay birds slowly disintegrate in the rain, wind, and weather, gradually germinating the seeds. Open to all ages and abilities. Supplies are provided. Cost: $15.
Description: The conference welcomes beginners, published writers, and anyone else who believes in the magic and power of the written word.
Set in the beautiful Gunnison Valley of the central Colorado Rockies on the campus of Western State Colorado University, the conference offers a wide range of workshops designed to provide valuable learning tools in an inspiring setting.
Workshop faculty members have a broad range of published works, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, screenwriting, magazine article writing, as well as industry publishing experience. Working with participants of all levels, our featured faculty will help writers hone their craft through workshops and will mix with participants during events outside of formal sessions.
