CORE Tribe competes in the Adaptive Sports Center of Crested Buttes www.adaptivesports.org "7 Hours of the Twisted Banana" and skis/rides a combined total of over 170,000 vertical feet!

- ROE 295 Snow Based, 3 credits
- ROE 296 Land Based, 3 credits
- ROE 293 Water Based, 3 credits
- ROE 320 LNT Master Trainer, 3 credits.
- ROE 398 Program Planning, 3 credits
15 Credits Total
- ROE 496 Field Experience option (up to 6 credits) will be available for students who have already completed any of the aforementioned courses.
"The CORE Program will be based at Western State Colorado University and focus on multi-day expeditions here in the United States. Although we will be in the field a majority of the time, students must have housing arrangements during the Spring 2012 Semester. Students must be admitted to the ROE program to participate. If you are interested, please fill-out the attached application and submit to Dr. Mark A. Gibson, Room 220, Wright Gym, by Friday, October 14, 2011".
The CORE program is a field-based semester allowing students the opportunity to gain knowledge by active participation in the following areas:
Knowledgeable
• adventure education programming
• snow, land, and water based outdoor pursuits
• leave No Trace Master Trainer Certification
• environmental education
• interpretation of natural and cultural history
• wilderness leadershipThinkers
• who use creative and critical thinking strategies to manage complex issues, problems, or tasks;
• who monitor their own thinking, decisions and concepts and who can adapt to other’s ways of thinking and have empathy for opposing views;
• who analyze decisions made and actions taken in order to develop a broader base of information for future judgment and decision making; and
• who can identify and maintain a positive contribution to decisions and make sound judgments in a variety of environments, relative to the need and outcomeSelf-Directed Learners
• who independently set and/or modify priorities, goals, expectations and persevere to completion;
• who monitor and evaluate their own progress and take responsibility for their own actions;
• who develop a plan for completion of their academic pursuits and career; and
• who adapt flexible study habits to fit the CORE environment and are then able to utilize those abilities in future years.Communicators
