Center for Teaching Excellence
Purpose: The CTE provides faculty with professional development opportunities to enhance teaching at all stages of their career. The Center creates a dialogue on the Western State Colorado University's campus teaching excellence. This dialogue aids new faculty in achieving the excellent teaching expected of all faculty and allows all faculty to explore pedagogical and curricular innovation on individual, departmental and institutional levels.
Goals:
Events for the semester- (regular semester events are the first and third Thursdays of every month from 12:30-1:45 p. m. - save time in your schedule!)
Center for Teaching Excellence Spring 2013 workshop series
All events scheduled to take place on Thursdays, 12:30-1:45pm in the University Center North Ballroom, unless otherwise specified.
January 16th- Breaking the ice, informal mixer and workshop (Library, West Wing, 5-7pm)
February 7th- Grant writing 101.
February 13th-Faculty scholarship wine and cheese reception (5-7pm)
February 21st-Student panel on recruitment and retention
March 7th- New library resources for research and student use (Library 101)
March 21st- Spring break, no CTE
April 4th-The paperless classroom (Kelley 116)
April 18th- Expectations and the 21st century student. (Presentation and discussion by Dr. Janette Benson, Director of the Office of Academic Asessment, University of Denver)
April 25th- Celebration of Scholarship poster session (12:30-4pm)
May 2nd- FYS catching up and planning for next year (South Conference Room)
