What Gerry would recommend to incoming Western State College about the CORE program:I would definitely recommend CORE. It is a great program that shows you what the Outdoor Leadership and Resort Management major is all about. It gives you hands-on experience with skills such as being a guide and working in a group. You gain things that you are going to put on your resume like scuba certification. You gain knowledge about zip-lines, tree house construction, how to climb a tree using ascenders, you gain knowledge about the ocean and its tides. You learn about being in a different culture and how it works. You learn travel logistics for a large group as well as smaller groups. You get to practice a foreign language. It will be a life changing experience that will be worth more than any other semester you will gain from college.
