About Brandee

  • Biology Major, OLRM Minor
  • CORE Costa Rica, Spring 2009
"I would definitely recommend the CORE program to not only incoming students, but to current students at Western State."

I would definitely say that it’s not for everyone, but it’s  for someone who is looking for a more hands-on education, and who’s willing to take their education into their own hands. With CORE you get out of this program what you put into it.  I feel I learned so much about social aspects, and group dynamics, conflict resolution, aside from the activities that we did.  CORE is a whole other experience and it’s a great opportunity to  get out there and do it first-hand.

Brandee compares and contrasts the CORE program to a “normal” semester at Western State College:

In a normal class workload classes are interesting, sometimes boring, always stressful, exhausting, time consuming, expensive, draining – I’ll be so excited about my classes but by the end of the semester I’m just so tired I forget why I’m even in school half the time.

With CORE you are always interested , seldom bored, relaxed, it’s still expensive, but not really for what you get in class credit and life experiences. To sum up my experience CORE was rejuvenating.
